Chapter 7-Criss Cross

I am reading Criss Cross, which Lynne Rae Perkins wrote. Chapter 7 starts from scene which Lenny’s smoking time and everyone for except Lenny shows their expression that hate his cigarette. Chapter 7 is founded about Lenny and his old memory. When he was very young, he likes his parents very much so as to collect to watch their presents carefully, and he was very smart. He always felt the school is boring, so his habit is reading the book. His parents showed him many things which are conglomerate, quartzite, sandstone, bottle cap and cigarette butt. Then Lenny felt the satisfaction of understanding something in his mind and making it become real with his hands. And the end of this chapter, he explains to people who don’t like his smoking why he started smoking. He said “it is my father’s DNA”

In this chapter, I felt tiredness from an appearance of many characters. Just now, I am drawing the picture of their faces. But I don’t have ability to draw the picture, therefore I am about to borrow the picture from the magazines that I have. When I finish drawing them, I will put my pictures on my blog.

I really understood his process of growth because my mother also smoke too much. I think most of children are certainly influenced by own parents. My habits, which to like video games and magazines and to smoke are the same with my parent’s habit.
I want to know about you. Do you have the same habit with your parents?

After I finish reading this chapter, I noticed that each chapter of this novel doesn’t have the relatedness each other. Therefore, it is impossible to predict the next story. Even now, I have no image about next chapter.

I agree with you that children are easy to influenc by their own parents.

My father also smoke too. Acually, it makes me want to smoke, but I think sometimes we should know what is good and what is bad for us. It is important to make our own decision.

The blog's focus is on the character's smoking habit so you don't need that stuff about how he likes his parents and school is boring. You have to sort out the important from the not-so-important.
