The theme of Criss Cross

The book I am reading is Criss Cross which Lynne Rae Perkins wrote. This book always makes me consider how we should live a day. Title of Criss Cross is meaning just to crisscross. There are two main characters in the story, and they appear in the story reciprocally.

The reason is that they had not been satisfied well. One of main character is Debbie, she always wished something happen. That something is including not only pressure but also grief. She is waiting something happen. This her way of living makes me consider how I thought and lived past-days. She is thinking and living for her identity, but I do not do so. She demands a meaning of her existence. However, I spend meaningless days without thinking about anything.
Furthermore, Hector who is another chief character is perfect. He can easily perform everything so he is anxious in days. His story advances while he feels doubt in days without the change. His way of life is about to appeal to us for something in the same way as Debbie’s way of life, too. It is the sadness without the purpose in the day. When I read his story, I felt so. In chapter 1 to 4, I think they are waiting something happen. It is to discover their purpose and something they lives for, and interpret their way of live is just this novel’s theme.
